There are currently 9 specialized secondary school of music that are affiliated to higher conservatives of music, which help cultivate musical talents for the country and backup for higher musical conservatives. They are cradles of talents of music. Therefore, the development of specialized secondary schools of music and the subsequent foundation of music specialty is of essential importance to the overall level of the development of music specialty education. During the past 50 years of teaching in specialized secondary school, we have made world-widely remarkable achievement with output of a large number of music specialty talents. However, with the changers of the situation, we are faced with many new problems and challenges, which demand more than what the current specialty teaching situation and our specialty curriculum management model can handle. The author starts with the basic specialty curriculum, under the direction of theories and approaches in musicology, education and management, in exploration of the characteristics of specialty curriculum in specialized secondary school of music, and hence to seek approaches to the solutions to the 'bottleneck' problems as well as for further development of specialty music education. This paper will deal with these issues in the following four parts.Chapter one is about the overall situation of china's specialized secondary school of music. It introduces the background for the foundation of the Affiliated Secondary School of Shanghai Conservative of Music, along with introductions of other 8 school of same kind. Focused on the Affiliated Secondary School of Shanghai Conservative of Music, it discusses problems in the running and the achievement of the school as a case.Chapter two is about the basic specialty curriculum in specialized secondary school of music. It discussed the definition, scheme, ideas, structure, development requirements and implementation, etc., of the curriculum, both on the theoretical and applicative levels.Chapter three is about the development of basic specialty curriculum in home and abroad. Through the aspects of educational goal, length of schooling, specialty examination requirements and training approaches, this chapter introduces four representative specialized secondary school of music and their development of basic specialty curriculum.Chapter four is about some tentative reform suggestions for the basic specialty curriculum in specialized secondary schools of music. In this chapter the author proposes, based on analysis of the basic specialty curriculum in home and abroad, feasible ideas of developing basic specialty curriculum in china's specialized secondary school of music, which meet the needs of social development, in accordance with art educational principles, and beneficial to the improvement of student's comprehensive music quality.
