Study On The Modernization Of Traditional Confucian Humanism

In recent years, with the undertaking of the mission of construction of harmonious society based on the idea of"human-oriented", and the upsurge of rejuvenating national traditional spiritual culture, the Confucian humanism has become concerned target in academia study, and have already formed some important theory achievements. Researches conclude the value, essence and the sense of the modernization of Confucian humanism, and how to achieve it.Some researchers consider how to annotate and understand the modernization Confucian humanism is very important, while the annotated theory can hold, integrate and merge modern democratic idea, democratic spirit consciously, which promote and set up the democratic system of the modern civilized society. Another view thinks to achieve the modernization of Confucian humanism is to introduce the purpose value and tool nature value of western philosophy, looking for one unified"degree"between purpose reason and tool reason, entering an actual life operation(Wan Junren and Meng Peiyuan,). For some other researchers, the modernization lies in"aiding western theory to enter Confucianism"too, inheriting the basic value such as the freedom, reason, human rights of the Enlightenment spirits. The person who holds this kind of view will often equate modernization with Occidentalizing (the modern new the Confucian schools will mostly hold this view). Another kind of view maintains the positive interaction among various culture, realizing the modernization by the dialogue with other cultures.The similarity of these research results is to affirm the Confucian humanism still has the realistic value in the contemporary society. Their difference lies in the way of the modernization of traditional Confucian humanism. Some think the traditional theory can play the role in the contemporary society without any changes; or they claim the transformation by introducing the western humanism thought. All these viewpoints have not been able to find the essence of the problem, and its method also does not have the persuasive power. The first part has carried on the significance of humanism, and elaborates the basic category of the Confucian humanism, including the evolution from the origin and course development. Then the author analyzes the similarities and differences between the traditional Confucian humanism, the western humanism and the Marxist humanism by historical and structural comparison carefully. Finally, has carried on the discussion the way to achieve the modernization of the Confucian humanism.
