Preliminary Research Into Zhe School Of Qin

Zhe school of qin, is the first qin school with a far-reaching influence. The period from the Southern Song Dynasty in which Guo mian established Zhe school of qin to the middle of the Ming Dynasty witnessed its glorious development. During this period, Zhe school of qin not only carried forward the development of its own, but also brought along the development of the whole qin study in China. This paper, starting with the analysis of historical cause of formation of Zhe school, gives a systematic introduction to its historical development and points out that Zhe school experienced four periods of development: the period of preliminary development, the period of prosperity, the period of decline and the period of revival. It further makes a detailed analysis of the spread of Zhe school, based on which it argues that the rapid spread of Zhe school is closely related to its education system which is characterized by various channels and different forms, including teaching within the family, transmission from master to disciple, teaching at court and instruction in societies. In addition, Zhe school, as the first large qin school in history, undoubtedly has countless ties with other schools and exerts a tremendous influence on them, which in a certain sense contributes to the wide spread of Zhe school. At last, this paper, based on the analysis of musicians of Zhe school, its qin music score, and its qin composition, summarize the style and characteristics of Zhe school. In summary, this paper conducts a comprehensive investigation into Zhe school of qin, in the hope of objectively restoring the historical physiognomy of Zhe school.
