The significance and influence that the reception of Russian-Soviet literature in China brings about is much greater than that of the reception of the literature in other countries does, which is supposed to be attributed to the similarities between China and Russia/ Soviet Union when they advance toward modern society .In addition, the literary concepts , literary trends of thought and the aesthetic standards in both countries are sort of corresponding to each other. The similarities and correspondence make Chinese feel intimate and share tacit understanding when they receive Russian-Soviet literature. Especially, the Soviet revolution and construction are regarded as the mode of Chinese revolution, therefore the works mirroring Soviet revolution and construction are apt to arouse sympathy, which leads to the greater influence that Russian-Soviet literature exerts on China. Among Russian-Soviet works, the reception of Russian-Soviet Red Classics in contemporary China produces long-term influence beyond literary significance. The Russian-Soviet Red Classics this thesis signifies refer to the following kind of works: they are the revolutionary or used-to-be -revolutionary ones both in Russian-Soviet proletariat revolutionary literature and Soviet socialist literature, and they influence contemporary China greatly and profoundly. Besides, these works are characteristics of a canon, whose significance is more than that on literature. The first part of this thesis briefly tells about the Russian-Soviet Red Classics, dividing their reception process in China into two periods: the single-sided reception solely serving politics from 1949 to 1979, and the multisided reception since 1980.The second part elaborates the characteristics of the Reception in the initial thirty years based on five respects. The reception serving political purposes features the bias one of 1950s and the anti-Revisionism one of 1960s.The loss of reception subject, the trend of pure political utilitarianism and the misread of different extents deviate the reception of the Russian-Soviet Red Classics from the right track. The Russian-Soviet Red Classics penetrates into Chinese common life and spiritual life from all directions and Chinese contemporary literature creation is more or less influenced by them. The third part elaborates the characteristics of the Reception since 1980 based on four respects. Reception pluralism includes theory one and masscult one. The emphasis of literal and aesthetical reception, the development of personal reception and the flood of masscult reception, the reflection and self-criticism of the reception subject on the result of the influence indicate that the reception of the Russian-Soviet Red Classics has been into the subject and correct track since 1980s. In the fourth part the writer of this thesis ponders over experiences and morals that the reception of Russian-Soviet Red Classics in contemporary China has brought about. The reception of the Russian-Soviet Red Classics in contemporary China has its history necessity. It's absorbed as different words and shoulders different functions, so its negative effect shouldn't be neglected. Therefore, we should give the Russian-Soviet Red Classics modern explanation and Chinese reception on the basis of restoring them to the original state and understanding them completely.
