CLIL is the abbreviation of Content and Language Integrated Learning, which means to use at least one foreign language as a media language to teach non-language subjects in European schools. After the World War II, it appears three most famous bilingual education regions: the North American area(US & Canada), the European area(Germany & Belgium etc.), the Southeast Asian area(Singapore & Brunei etc.). People focus on the North American area and the Southeast Asian area a lot for a very long time, but they seldom pay attention to the European area. Therefore, the author attempts to share some useful information of the bilingual education in European Union with the readers. The whole dissertation includes three parts: the introduction, the body and the conclusion. The first part is the introduction, in which the background, the concept and the current study (home & abroad) of the bilingual education in European Union is introduced and explained. Chapter two is all about the theoretic bases of the bilingual education in European Union. Chapter three introduces the bilingual course design in European Union. Chapter four involves the assessment of the bilingual education in European Union. Chapter five is a case study, which analyses the CLIL model in Germany. Lastly, some comments on CLIL are made, which can provide us with the experiences and lessons. In a word, through the research on bilingual education in European Union, the author hopes it can offer some implications for administrators, teachers, parents and those who are interested in bilingual education.
