With the focus of teaching shifted to the individual differences of the learners, learning style has attracted more and more researchers'attention in the last thirty years. Learning styles are the habitual ways which individuals prefer in learning.The present author studies English learning styles of Chinese college students. The author used the method of questionnaire to investigate English learning styles. A learning styles questionnaire was administered to 107 freshmen from Changchun University of Science and Technology. The final English examination scores of the students were used to indicate their English achievements. The relationships between learning styles and English achievements were examined through the Service Pack of Social Statistics software (SPSS 11.5).On the basis of the findings, recommendations for teachers of English are given. The practical significance of this study is that the results can be used to help students increase their ESL language learning proficiency through their particular strength with learning styles so as to enhance their active roles in learning.
