The Serial Versifying Of Su Shi And Su Zhe

There are many different kinds of appraisal come from the experts and scholars about the responsory style, someone enjoy it but most of them don't like it. The ancients like the nature and aesthetic taste in the poetry and hold the negative attitude about the serial versifying, they criticize it change the poetry into paronomasia. In their opinion, the serial versifying deviate the practical value of traditional poetry, offend the Esthetic orientation of literature. So the research on the serial versifying of Su Shi and Su Zhe had been ignored. In fact the serial versifying of Su Shi and Su Zhe have rich content and diverse functions and provided very important material about Su Shi and Su Zhe for us.In Su Shi's lifetime, makes friends and serial versifying, were frequently. Su Zhe keeps his company with his brother continually, and their emotion is very deep. They couldn't separate with each other. It provides very important material for us to understand them. We divide their lifetime into four periods to research.First, the period before relegation(1059~1079).From early period of his official career to"Wu tai shi an". It includes"Nan Xing"serial versifying,"Qiliang"serial versifying and"Hangzhou,Mizhou,Xuzhou serial versifying. In the period of"Nan Xing"the brothers were young and vigorous so they has recorded along the impoverished lives of the people on the way. The period in Fengxiang, it is the first time that the brother leave each other and the serial versifying were almost about homesickness accompanied with description of scenery. When Su Shi in Hangzhou, Mizhou and Xuzhou his"Styles of Poetry"was changed, into frankly ,but his brother's poetries became gentleness and sincerity.Second, the period of relegate to Huang Zhou.(1079~1086) in this period, Su Shi's political career has came under a serious attack. Their poetry is full of affection and mutual encouraged by the strength of Adversity. In this period the style which the poems Su Shi write to his brother is natural style .Third, serial versifying in the period of"Yuan You".(1089～1094)It is the most successful period in their political career. They spent a very long time in capital. They had many chances to attend banquets and they write a lot of poetry .In these poetry, we can see that they eager to be buried aliveFourth the period of relegate to Huizhou and Danzhou. From"Shaosheng"to Su Shi died. In this time they lived at Lingnan, and the life are extremely difficult. The poetry of this period reflected the true condition of their daily lifeLooking back on their more than 40 years of serial versifying, the content was extremely widely. But homesickness is the core content .No matter the official career is smooth or the most difficult time in the life. They comfort each other through the poetry. Poetry has become their spiritual pillar. Live in seclusion through their life, although they did not achieve this aspiration, it had became their spiritual pillar.
