More than half a century before the 1890s.Britain enjoyed the reputation of pan-Britannia by virtue of the world factory status ,all-conquering navy ,global empire and enjoying the strategic channel .However, after 1890's,the major European powers and the united states rose successively ,which weakened the relative British strength .they engaged many fierce competition in the zone partitioned fuzzily .Britain and other powers began to experience frequent conflicts, the worldwide commitment made the British exhausted ,this makes the British increasingly unbearable to "splendid isolation" .Faced with the global strategic dilemmas ,Britain began a period of transferring diplomatic strategy, Britain tried on cutting its empire obligations .Through the association to get the allies to share their commitments to alleviate the contradiction between the ends and means.The largest threat the Britain experienced came from Russia. The United Kingdom faced aggressive expansion in the Middle East, central Asia, border of Northwest India and the Far East .due to the limitations of strength, Britain adopted the alignment policy to curb the Russian expansion. Britain and Japan signed the alliance treaty, who shared the interest in contain the ambitious Russia .the Russo-Japanese war struggling for the dominance of Korea and Northeast China broke out in 1904. Japan won a victory, thanks to the influence of alliance in a way, which stopped the Russian expansion momentum .this war is of the global nature, it not only changed the pattern of Far East power, but also the balance of power in the Europe. The German took advantage of the timing ,began to challenge the French status in North Africa and recently signed-up treaty between Britain and France .In order to stabilize the Far East and deter the Russian revenge ,Britain and Japan renewed the alliance treaty ahead .Since then, the operation and connotation of the alliance increasingly complexes .the Far East competition escalated increasingly because of the confliction between Japan and America .Britain decided to amend the agreement in 1905 to avoid being involved in the probable U.S- Japan conflict not because of the 1907 Anglo Russo .agreement to abolish it. then .Britain not only make itself can avoid being involved in U.S- Japan conflict, but also make Britain can bound the Japan's expansion on the mainland by the frame work of the alliance treaty .Equally import -ant and urgent was the naval race between Britain and German ,which aggravated the mutual relations ,Britain couldn't afford to abolish the Anglo-Japanese alliance ,such as the Japanese retaliation and the simultaneous two arms race in Asia and Europe ,even the war .the outbreak of the first world war made Britain can take into account nothing happened in the Far East .Japan ,the opportunism of power took the opportunity to expand their influence on mainland china ,even coveted British traditional sphere of influence in Yangtze River Japan's expansionism conflicted with American interest sincerely ,but also endangered the interests of Britain .but because of the war situation ,the UK had to take the policy of "marking time". Immediately the war ended, in view of the changed international situation and the strategic conflict between Britain and Japan .Britain replaced the Anglo-Japanese cooperation with Anglo-American global cooperation strategy, The Four power treaty buried the Anglo-Japanese alliance decently in the Washington meeting in 1921.
