The demonstration researches of the self-consciousness in psychology had began since 1970's. The self-consciousness scale was designed by Fenigstein et al. in 1975,which was one of the most representative researches. The scale had been widely used around the world since then except Chinese mainland. It is necessary to revise the self-consciousness scale in order to offer an measurement tool for Chinese adults' self-consciousness.The Chinese revision of the self-consciousness scale was formed based on the primary revise, trial-test, result analysis and revise again, then it was used to explore the relationship with the self Consistency and Congruence Scale. The results of the study show that:(1) The revised self-consciousness scale is of high reliability and fair validity. All items of the revised scale maintain the same structure with which of the original scale except no.2 and no.7 item. The three factor model turns out to be legitimate and fitting by means of the confirmatory factor analysis and socio-demography.(2) The scores of private self-consciousness and social anxiety in Chinese college students are significantly higher than those in Hongkong and American college students; but the situation is reversed on public self-consciousness.(3) Significant difference between the freshman, junior and senior has been found in private self-consciousness and public self-consciousness; but there is not significant difference in social anxiety within four grades.(4) The scores of private self-consciousness and public self-consciousness in female college students are significantly higher than those in male college students; but there is not significant difference in social anxiety between genders.(5) There are two types of self-consciousness in college students, that is the high self-consciousness type and the low self-consciousness type.(6) The degree of self consistency and congruence in high self-consciousness type's college students are significantly higher than those in low self-consciousness type's college students.
