Little-ladies' prose is a form of writing, which began to sprout in the nineties and is blossoming. It influences the writing of prose later with its manifestation of the self-awareness of female urbanites as well as multidimensional presentations of their world. The paper explores little-ladies' prose from two aspects. The exploration begins with the culture of little-ladies' prose. The authors of little-ladies' prose are the dwellers mainly in Guangdong, Shanghai, and Chengdu.etc Its readers spread over the places as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and vicinity with a culture similar to Shanghai's. Most of its buyers are white-collar, having spare time and money. It is a particular phenomenon that its authors, readers and buyers all are coincidentally in the relatively developed and culturally open areas. The emergence of phenomenon is discovered in the paper from such three aspects as regional characteristics, consumer culture and its medium. The other aspect from which the paper explores little-ladies' prose is its emphasis. Like each school and each author having its own features, little-ladies prose is unique. It places emphasis neither on the being prepared for unexpected development nor reflecting things and voicing aspirations, which are of great importance in traditional culture and literature. Instead, it lays special emphasis on ego, covering self-care, independence and life-enjoyment. It is characterized by its trying to attract the general public and having a flavor of pretty bourgeois' life.On the basis of the exploration, the paper captures the instant aesthetic taste of works, and casts light on the authors' piecing together the scraps of daily life and their maintaining the little ladies' identity. The paper thus spots the "great" cultural significance in little-ladies' prose.
