Under the titanic influence of the plural styles and multiple forms in the twentieth century such as Impressionism,Post-impressionism,Fauvism and Cubism, Modigliani,as representive of Paris school of art stuck to massproducing carving art of his own unigue taste and styles based on female images and African wood carving. Meanwhile, he created large-scale oil painting by successfully exploring the specific formalities from sculpture art, applying the ideas of confined space from Post-impressionism color composition from Cubism and the color-shaping techniques by Paul Cezanne . Modigliani treats the figure in his own "sculpturesque "style: void shaped face, twinkling eyes, flat nose, slim neck and graceful arms are all skillfully visualized by rhythmically flowing contours. the female images in the nude are characteristic of the flow contours, the paint applied with economy and dimly discernible background, illustrating a sort of potential sexual consciousness. Out of sound phycology, Modigliani has a keen sight to observe the surrounding word criticizing the dirty reality in Paris in a biting and ironical language. Generally, the depressed sensitiviting combined with an imperious majesty are dependent upon such specific form languages as lines, colors and composition, which, in return, convey an inner cinflit between death and life, love and hate. In a sense, Modigliani"s art has broaden the horizon of moder art history by deep exploring the essence of humanity in the 1990"s.
