He Mengyao, with another name Baozhi and also known Xichi, was a native of Nanhai County, Guangdong Province. After passing the highest imperial examination and became a jingshi in the 8th year of Emperor Yongzheng, He was appointed as a magistrate in counties of Guangxi Province, such as Yining, Yangshuo, Chenxi, Si'en, and finally he was promoted to be a governor in Liaoyang city, Fengtian Province. During his service, He not only was well-known for his ability dealing with government affairs, but also, as an upright and uncorrupted official, paid close attention to the condition and feelings of the people and show deeply sympathy for people's sufferings. In addition, with his medicine knowledge, He continuously offered to give people treatment which usually proved to be very effective. Consequently, all of his above deeds brought He popular support from common people. Being intelligent from a child, He was a rare generalist whose artistic creation covered the fields of poetry, Ci poetry and prose as well. There are seven volumes of his work Jufangyuan Anthology available today.This thesis, Collation and Annotation on Jufangyuan Anthology, is composed on the basis of Jufangyuan Anthology kept in Beijing Library. With the poems collected in He Jianzhou Jufangyuan volume and The county Annals of Cenxi as the references, this thesis adds some punctuation marks, annotations to Jufangyuan Anthology and also makes some collations on it as well, and then classifies and interprets the poems in the collection.He's poems are so much characterized with their rich and documentary contents ,such as attention livelihood of the people's hardship, records the local custom, the description scenery of journey and so on. On the point of artistic features, He's poems are concise but precise, simple but elegant, and are also rich and varied, but not limited to one style, the language fresh, make good use of literary quotation and so on. On the whole, He's poems are not only abundant in cultural elements, but also of great literary significance, and it is also of great value to treasure them as historical materials for future study and reference.
