From A Fighter Of Democratic Revolution To A Rural Educator

In the Chinese modern democratic revolution history and Chinese rural education history, Wang Gong-bi occupies an important position. Taking his thought and practice of democratic revolution, rural construction and rural education as the main themes , this thesis makes a comprehensive exploration of the revolutionary activities and the experiment of rural autonomy construction and education reform that he was engaged in throughout his life .The thesis can be divided into four parts .The first part explores the formation of his national democratic revolution thought and his practice .The mainly background, the new style education that he received, the influence of the capitalist democratic revolution thought and the reality of China being carried up by western constituted the foundation upon which his national democratic revolution thought was formed .Under the guideline of his thought, with a view to opposing the feudal autocratic rule, opposing the invasion of Japan and other imperialist countries and supporting the CPC's democratic activities he did a great deal of arduous work. His democratic revolution thought became more mature.The second part mainly formulates his experiment of rural autonomy construction. Confronted with the complicated and changeable society and influenced by new village thought he was determined to seek an approach which is more practical than force, that is, carrying out the rural autonomy. The rural autonomy reform achieved gratifying effects in the restricted time but this kind of attempt eventually ended in failure.The third part largely explores his rural education reform. He was dedicated to rural education reform with a view to constructing the new village integrating agriculture and education. He founded the public youth school by raising fund, closely combining establishing rural schools and rural autonomy and creating the"Great Education"pattern combining school education and social education .Thanks to his efforts, remarkable achievements were made in rural education reform, which had an all-round and profound influence,Lastly, it made a summary and a dialectical comment and analysis of Wang Gong-bi's life history.
