This paper takes film songs influenced by left-wing films in the 1930s of China as its investigative object and makes a systematic study of it using the research method of filmology and musicology on the basis of former study by our precedents. This paper thinks left-wing writers were unable to give too clear-cut account of social ideology in his film transcripts then under the severe political environment, while film songs were not emphasized while being examined and thus contained more about social ideology which aroused the attention of left-wing writers. Consequently, their achievements in film song creation overrun that in narrative transcripts.This paper hopes to restate the historic significance of film songs and its relative influence on modern time by recalling the Left-wing Film Movement in the 1930s of China, aiming at evoking the attention of music festivals to create more film music, promoting the cooperation between creators in filmdom and those in music circles, and awaiting the resplendence of film songs.This paper firstly explores the background of the Left-wing Cultural Movement in combination with the political and cultural situations in the 1930s of China and presents and summarizes the development and creation of the film art. In the following, the paper exemplifies how left-wing writers show ideology's influence on its era by citing film songs. Finally, this paper quotes several film songs to research their creation, artistic style and their significance.This article is composed of four parts:Part 1: A comprehensive description of China's film art development in the 1930s.This part focuses on specific description and summary on the creation of the film art in this period of time. Part 2: A conflict between the Left-wing Film Movement and film theories. This part sums up the Left-wing Film Movement and film creation and the argument of its theoretical experts about soft and hard films.Part 3: Film songs under the influence of left-wing writers. This part mainly explores the influence of ideology in film songs on popular culture and that whole time.Part 4: The creation and significance of several influential film songs. This part mainly makes a research on several influential film songs and its historical significance.
