It was a prosperous period of novel from the creation of New China to theyear, 1966. During these 17 years, many great and popular novels, with extensiveinfluence, were created. With the principle of political ideology and via the way full ofenthusiasm and simplicity, these novels praised highly of people's spirits in the period ofrevolutionary war and socialist construction. This paper analyzes these novels' artisticquality thoroughly from the angle of folk narration. It puts special emphasis on the uniquefeature of these novels between the aim of creation and the skill of artistic expression, thatis, these novels focus on folk spirits in narrative structure, narrative styles, narrativelanguage and narrative skill, besides adhering to the aim of political ideology. The skill offolk narration is shown in these following respects in this paper: from the respect ofnarrative structure, its choose in narrative perspective and setting of nanative plots arecharacterized by folk narration. From the respect of style, its choose in narrative field andnarrative fun also show the characteristic of folk narration. Finally, from the respect ofnarrative language and skills, these novels also display folk style. According to theauthor's observation and analysis via folk angle, We have an idea of very different "17-Year" novels. Although political ideology has an influence on these novels and thusreduce their artistic quality to some extent, these novels are very channing in arts bymeans of using folk narrative ways. Consequently, it is very popular among several agesand still popular today.
