Study And Design Of Clothes For Persons With Limb Disability

People with limb disability have various special needs in the function and structure of clothes. Abnormal, imperfect body also means they have strong expectations about the aesthetics of clothes.China has the most disabled people in the world, and people with limb disability have up to 24,120,000 among them. What the most limb disabled people wear are ordinary ready-made clothes, but their special needs of clothes can not be met by the ordinary ready-made clothes.There are certain achievements in theoretical research and market development of clothes for people with limb disability in many countries like U.S.A and Great Britain, etc. But most of these pay close attention to the improvement of function and structure of the clothes, the aesthetical aspect of the clothes has been neglected. The theoretical research in this respect is still at an early stage in China, and the market development is still a blank so far.Facing such social needs and research situation, this paper puts forward the subject: the study and design of clothes for people with limb disability. To carry on the theory, the study and design of the clothing needs for Chinese adult disabled people (excluding children), in the hope of improving their self-image, aesthetically pleasing clothes will allow disabled people to rise from "hiding their shame" to" beautification ".The research of this subject mainly includes the following contents:First, put the domestic and international research of fashion design for the people with limb disability in order, summarizing the achievements from abroad, analyzing the reason of Chinese backwardness respectively.Second, adopt methods such as field investigation, interviews and questionnaire investigation, collecting the opinions and needs regarding clothes for people with limb disability. Based on the results of surveys and studies, summarize the current clothing problems of people with limb disability.Third, with reference to the individual characteristic psychological theory of A.Adler, combines the survey and study data, analyze the deep layer of psychological characteristic of people with limb disability, and the consequential dressing psychology and behavior.Fourth, put forward the design principle of the aesthetic need of the clothes according to the disabled people' dressing psychology, carrying on the design of the concrete aesthetic needs of clothes with the method of "compensational design ".Fifth, according to the characteristics of disabled people's physical movement, carry on the fashion design of functional needs from three aspects of protection, comfort and mobility.Sixth, according to various changes in appearance and postures of people with limb disability, divide their activities into three types as long-time sitting, walking, and restricted flexibility. With reference to the foreign design cases of people with limb disability, carry on the structural fashion design respectively for each type respectively.The main innovations of this subject are lighted as following:First, innovation of the research contents.Carry on the overall study in a profound way on the fashion design for people with limb disability in China for the first time.Second, the analysis of dressing psychology of people with limb disability.The research of dressing psychology of people with limb disability is comparatively scarce both at home and abroad. This subject analyses the dressing psychology of people with limb disability in depth with the theory of individual characteristic psychological for the first time.Third, the new knowledge about the aesthetic needs of clothes for people with limb disability.The relevant researches both at home and abroad mostly consider the problems of clothes for people with limb disability from the view of practical function. But through the research, the author finds out that people with limb disability deeply desire for a more fashionable and seemingly "normal" appearance.When the aesthetics needs conflicting with practical function of the clothes, most disable people tend to sacrifice the practical function for the uncomfortable fashion.The new knowledge of the aesthetic needs of clothes for people with limb disability will facilitate the fashion design to meet their true needs.Fourth, the function design of clothes for people with limb disability.Only one domestic thesis once mentioned the concept of functional needs of clothes for disable people and it didn't investigate further. This subject puts forward the design principle of the functional needs for the first time. Through the design of protection, comfort and mobility to meet the functional needs of clothes for people with limb disability.Because of the limitations of ability, time, my research on this subject is limited, but will try best to make the ideas applicable to more concrete problems, not confined to the specific cases designed in this paper only.
