Contrastive analysis is conducted in sentences of Lia and Liangge which extracted from the corpus chronically and synchronically.The ratio of Liangge and Lia at the end of words in Er Nv Ying Xiong Zhuan is 4 to 1 and Lia at the end of words covers 40.2% of all the sentences of Lia. But the ratio in Wang Shuo Wen Ji is 1 to 40 and the percentage is 80.3%. It's obvious that the percentage of Lia at the end of words is much higher than that of Liangge. Therefore the thesis considers Lia as enclitic.Based on the concepts of semantic grammar categories, the thesis compares the character of Lia in Chinese language with that in other languages where the dual can be found in number category. The universals of duel are clear. Lia forms originate form the numeral"two", it attachs to person pronouns and nouns with the lines of Animacy Hierarchy, and Lia is located in the position of dual in the Number Hierarchy following the lines: singular > plural > dual. The thesis advances that Lia is the morphological grammatical marker of dual and Liangge is the numeral-classifier phrase which belongs to the vocabulary but not to the grammer.Comparing with the character of affix, Lia is defined as quasi affix. The change from Liangge to Lia is in the process of morphologization by the cline of grammaticalization.
