The thesis aims to discuss affective problems of Higher VocationalCollege students in English learning, appealing for more attention to theiraffective factors that influence English teaching and learning, trying toexplore some effective ways to solve these problems and helping them toeliminate negative affects and construct positive ones, so as to improvetheir learning effect and efficiency.Based on relevant researches at home and abroad, and the theories ofeducational psychology, neurobiology and second language acquisition,the thesis explains that learners have their basic affective needs and therelationship between cognition and affect can influence learners in theircognition and their development as a whole person.Through the four questionnaires, the author investigates some freshstudents in Yueyang Vocational Technical College and Hunan EthnicVocational College, and analyzed their affective characters in languagelearning.Based on some relevant theories and the research itself, the authorputs forward some strategies and countermeasures to solve their mainaffective problems.The thesis consists of six parts. The first part is the introduction ofthe background of affective study at home and abroad and presents theobjective of this thesis. The next part introduces the theoretical bases ofaffective language learning and teaching. Part 3 discusses some mainaffective factors and their functions. Part 4 analyzes the results of theinvestigations and affective characteristics of current Higher VocationalCollege students and the situation. In Part 5, according to the analysis and investigations, we tentatively put forward some strategies andcountermeasures to students existing affective problems.Through the study of affective factors of Higher Vocational students,the author aims to arouse English teachers' more attention to students'affective state; help students solve their affective problems so as tostimulate their learning interest, improve their learning effect andpromote students' all-round development.
