On The Creative Features Of Chopin's Scherzo

Chopin, an outstanding composer and pianist of the romanticismperiod in western musical history, created plenty of piano music andetude by employing piano as the performing carrier in less thanforty-years' lifetime. Scherzo is a very distinctive type of creation inChopin's works, with four in total. Chopin's creation on Scherzo playedan important role in the whole development of the Scherzo, and study onChopin's Scherzo, undoubtedly, will provide a direction in performingChopin's and other composers' Scherzo.This dissertation attempts to make a comprehensive analysis onChopin's Scherzo in the perspective of creative techniques, and illustrateit from five aspects: the long and dramatic musical structure, the cantabilerhythm and tune, the novel and artful symphonic language, deep nationalemotion and the unique performing tact. Combining the cultural andsocial background of the composing, a comparatively systemic researchon Chopin's Scherzo is done in this paper.
