Mark Twain is an outstanding US realism writer in the second half of19th century. His novels hold obvious qualities of definite humor, profoundcriticism and vivid characteristic of his age. Humor is a unique way of thoughtfor Mark Twain. He uses humor to bring laughter to the readers as well asexposes the social evils severely, reflects profoundly the humanity's livingcondition and explores the whole world on the basis of philosophy. Humorbecomes an inner quality of novel, with which Mark Twain makes the commonpeople understand the humor itself, and also demonstrates the ego-soul andthe capacious mind to the common people. In the view of Mark Twain's humorquality, this thesis discusses—on the basis of western humor theory—theintegrant character, inner quality and the influence on the future literature ofhis novels, so as to achieve a better comprehension and interpretation to MarkTwain's novels.
