The taboo study of Yueling chapter, in the Book of RitesThis thesis concerns about the taboo problems of Yueling chapter, in the Book of Rites. It divides into two parts. In the first part, the special taboos existing in every seasons of a year had been looked into, in the second part; the common taboos of the four seasons had been studied. In the first case, through the special taboos in each season, it is known that in the mind of ancient Chinese, spring was the time of reviving and reproducing, summer had an admiration the bordered on worship for fire and the astronomical phenomena came from Scorpio, autumn was the period of war and rites, winter was seen as the central of the universal and it had the relationship with the Gai Tian theory, which thought the sky was the lid of the ground. In the second part, it mainly discussed the taboo of water in every season. This taboo was connected with the sacrificial offering to the mountains and the rivers. Form the requirement of the sacrifices; we can have a point of view about how ancient Chinese treated on the outside world.
