Comedy Trio

Czechoslovakia’s contribution to the world’s cultural and artistic fields can not be ignored.There are world-class literary masters such as Franz Kafka and Bohumil Hrabal,music giants such as Bedrich Smetana,and the vigorous "Czech new wave" film movement.In the world film history,Jirí Menzel,1938-2020)is regarded as the "Czech new wave" film master who is on a par with Milos Forman and Věra Chytilová.He has won the best foreign language film Oscar and the Golden Bear award of Berlin Film Festival.In March 1997,Menzel won the Golden Lion Award of the Czech Film and Television Academy for his long-term contribution to Czech films.Czech Republic is a country of comedy.This paper focuses on Menzel’s complete comedy creation in his life.For the first time,it summarizes the trio of "black comedy","life comedy" and "business comedy" in Menzel’s comedies before and after "Prague Spring" and "Velvet Revolution",and points out that Menzel’s comedies show "satirical reality" and "satirical reality" This paper discusses the three "melodies" of "poetic reality" and "deifying reality",and how the humor in Menzel’s comedies comes into being from the two aspects of content and form,in order to provide theoretical inspiration and type reference for the creation of comedy films in China.Specifically speaking: first,in "black comedy",Menzel thinks that "laughter is the art of survival",humor is the way of Czech people’s survival,a powerful tool to satirize reality and awaken the people,showing the abnormal life of small people under the totalitarian system is the content expression of "black comedy",and metaphorizing totalitarian politics with body jokes is the core aesthetic feature of "black comedy",The satire and exposure of the dark reality is the source of humor of "black comedy".Second,in the "life comedy",Menzel thinks that his comedy is "the feast of life",humor is the Czech people’s praise of life,is the transcendence of nature,family life and ordinary reality,showing people’s quarrels,games and Festival parties is the content expression of "life comedy",poetic rural landscape,Carnival dialogue,Carnival style dialogue The game of chasing and fighting and the ceremonial banquet are its core aesthetic characteristics.The poetic and eulogizing of real life is the source of humor in "life comedy".Thirdly,in the "commercial comedy",Menzel’s comedy is full of visual wonders and narrative types,and humor has become an exaggerated form,legendary experience and spectacle picture.Compared with the closely watched train,"I served the king of England" is also derived from herabal’s World War II novels,But the vulgar body display and pale connotation show that the "commercial comedy" created by Menzel in his later years has lost the cultural connotation of comedy under the dual coercion of business and desire,and almost become a comic comedy.
