There are 36 sections in The History of Chen Dynasty, which includes 6 sections of original history and 30 biographies. The 33-year history of Chen Dynasty started from AD 557 when Chen Baxian ruled the region to AD 555 when Chen Dynasty was destroyed by Sui Dynasty. The writer Yao Silian received the emperor's order of writing the history of Liang and Chen Dynasties in the 3 rd year of Zhen Guan in Tang Dynasty and finished it in the 10th year. At present, about the study of history record, academe pays less attention to grammar compared with checking and lexics. As a result, the author of this book chose the adverbs in The History of Chen Dynasty as the study object. The book is divided into three parts:1) In the first chapter, the writer fully describes and analyses the usage and distribution of the adverbs in The History of Chen Dynasty, which gives you a general idea of these adverbs. This book covers about 555 adverbs, including 8 kinds, such as time, area, degree, manner, mood, conjunction, negative and indication.2) In order to expose the historic status of the adverbs in Chinese grammar history, the writer analyses the development of the adverbs in the two sides of static and dynamic state in the second chapter. From the 555 adverbs, we can see 386 in ancient times and 169 in mediaeval times, which suggests these adverbs have an inheriting and developing system. The History of Chen Dynasty covers 154double syllables adverbs, 60 of which are from ancient times and 94 of which are from mediaeval times. It reflects the trend of development in double syllables Chinese in mediaeval times.3) The writer chooses some particular phenomena in these adverbs as the study object in the third chapter. Firstly, the writer analyses the meaning of the adverbs in area. Secondly, the writer analyses the phenomenon which is about the combination of double syllables from adversative single syllables.
