The research of adverbs in Middle ancient Chinese is an important part of grammatical research on ancient Chinese. This paper select the adverbs on SouSHenJi to do some research.Through the thorough investigation of the adverb system in this book, we picture the overall appearance of the adverbs on to observe the basic characteristics of adverbs in Middle ancient Chinese, and to provide some useful materials for the archaic Chinese.The paper is consisted of three parts:The first part includes introduction, and several sub-sections. Firstly, it discusses the topic choice and combs the history of the research of adverbs; secondly, it introduces the value of these linguistic Corpus; thirdly, we explain the methods for research.The second part is the system of adverbs in SouSHenJi. At first, we set the criterias for judgying the adverbs. Based on the criterias and the usage of adverbs in SouSHenJi, the adverbs in this book are divided into ten categories, such as time adverb, scope adverb, degree adverb, mood adverb, correlative adverb, model adverb, negative adverb, frequency adverb, affirmative adverb, modest adverb, demonstrative adverb. Secondly, it pictures the system of abverbs in details. We trun the three hundred and ninteen adverbs into the ten categories, and discuss them accordingly. We mainly use the method of static depiction and Summary and Analysis in this part, and the method of Statistics and charts, observing the adverbs in SouSHenJi in details and intuition.At last, we summerizes the synchronic and diachronic development of the adverbs in SouSHenJi fully.The third part analyzes the adverbs in the book using the theory of semantic orientation. Based on the characteristics of each category, we mainly analyze degree adverb, try to disclose the deep semantic-relationship between adverbs and other syntactic components, and the motivation of syntagmatic relation through the analysis of semantic orientation.
