Based on the theory of semantic direction, semantic directions of the adverbs in modern Chinese dictionary (fifth edition) are preliminarily discussed from the following aspects, investigated: First, it points to after it or in front of it. Second, it points to sentence component or pointing words composition. Third, it points to the nominal element or nominal amount to. Fourth, if is pointing to the nominal element, so it is pointing to the main verb, patient, tools, illocutionary premises or whatever. Fifth, the composition is pointing to whether have any special requirements. Pay attention to in a detailed description of the language phenomenon, but also tried to explain and seek to rule of the semantic adverbs.First, according to ZhangYiSheng reference, from the point of view of nature and classification of adverbs a preliminary discussion, adverbs including portray adverbs, restrictive adverbs and furnishing adverbs.Second, portray adverbs according to the different semantic direction to agency, pointing into stiff, pointing to four categories and many parties. Through the investigation of corpus, and found them in more than nominal element to the agent, pointing to the majority.Third, restrictive adverbs including seven small classes according to the semantic meaning: time adverbs, frequency adverbs, range adverbs, degree adverbs, negative adverb, synergy adverbs, repeat adverbs. Based on the seven small class adverbs of semantic direction, summarizes some rules.Fourth, semantic direction of furnishing adverbs not only relevant with the distribution, but also relevant with the default function of adverbs.
