The Research On The Wuhan Wu Guan In The Min Guo Period (1912-1938)

Wu Guan is an important component of the development history of Wushu. Unfortunately, the predecessors were extremely weak on the military hall research and the regional research of Wu Guan. At present, there is still no monograph to be published. I chose the Wu Guan of Wuhan as my research object, and I made discussions mainly from the macro and micro angles, trying to fill this blank to provide the model function for the development of Wu Guan nowadays by and the surface.This paper is divided into five major sections. In Chapter1, I outlined the survival and development background of Wu Guan in Wuhan during the period of Min Guo. The Wuhan military hall formed many kinds and communal development situations, such as government-operated Wu Guan, official aiding and privately operated Wu Guan, privately operated Wu Guan in the 1920s and 1930s, under the influence of the Chu culture, economic environment, social situation, cultural reforming, government policy and so on. In chapter2, I elaborated the categories and the characteristics of Wu Guan in Wuhan. There were government-operated Wu Guan, official aiding and privately operated Wu Guan, privately operated Wu Guan. They were different from each other in the performance of the organizational nature, organizational structure, and teaching methods, etc. Just because of these differences, there were a large number of Wu Guans but small in size, which enriched the activities of Wushu. In Chapter3,I mainly analyzed the perspective of Hankou Jingwu Sports Association as a typical case from the microscopic angle. The organization displayed uniquely place in the hierarchical structure, and the structure of competence, and unified the obligations and the rights, potential economic strength and political prestige combination of the actual composition. The performance of the activities persisted the "Jing Wu Spirit", striving to improve their own reputations. These activities had profound influences to the dissemination and the development of Wushu in Wuhan. In Chapter4, I described the functional value of Wu Guan in Wuhan during the period of Min Guo, the Wu Guan in Wuhan mainly had fitness function, defense function, education function, social function, economic function and entertainment function, which enabled the Wu Guan more vitality. In Chapter5, I addressed its cultural adjustments. The changes of Wu Guan were actually the result of cultural adaptation, which were in the form of changes in form, connotation, cultural cast of mind and the value orientation. But the adaptation didn't change completely. Wu Guan inherited in the conservative nature, patriarchal nature of feudal, which affected its long-term development, caused all sorts of embarrassment and passive aspects in the developing process, and eventually resulted in deformity and failure.Summed up the history and back to the reality. From the research, I try to put forward the proposal and the forecast to the development of Wu Guan in China .As for the development of Wu Guan in China, I think that Wu Guan should be under the supports of the government and the relevant departments, deriving the traditional essence of Wushu, researching it's own culture characteristic, promoting it's culture brand, and taking the road of Wushu industry. Meanwhile, we should speed up raising human resource in this field, accelerating the construction of the network in Wushu, strengthening international exchanges and competitions, so as to disseminate Wushu worldwide.
