"Pipa Ji" became the focus of literati as soon as it had been written. Many theatrical theorists and critics of Ming and Qing dynasties deeply researched it. According to "the Material Collection of Pipa Ji " edited by Hou Baipeng, during Ming and Qing dynasties, there were about one hundred pieces of materials that talked about who was the author of "Pipa Ji"; about sixty to seventy pieces of materials that introduced the changing procession of the story and the author's writing circumstance; more than a hundred and forty pieces of materials which commented on "Pipa Ji", or introduced the performance and the influence of it. What's more, there were there critiques spread down separately written by Li Zhi, Chen Jiru and Mao shengshan. Taking "the Material Collection of Pipa Ji" as the main basis, this dissertation will make a review and comment on the Ming and Qing's Research of "Pipa Ji". The whole dissertation is divided into there parts: Introduction, Main Body, Conclusion.Introduction is about the survey for the Ming and Qing's Research of "Pipa Ji".Main Body includes four chapters:Chapters One talks about the author of "Pipa Ji". By analyzing the author's surname, given name, the native place as well as the creation situation, it is demonstrated that the author of Pipa Ji is Gao Ming. Then the paper investigates Gao Ming's words and deeds, official career and his poems in order to find out his anamnesis , world outlook and these anamnesis and world outlook's influence on "Pipa Ji".Chapter Two is about the works. It mainly analyzes the formation process of "Pipa Ji" and the origin of the story. In addition, it discusses the creation motive of the author, and proposes the viewpoint of "the multiple subject".Chapter Three is about the aesthetic taste. As the first works of the south Opera, Pipa Ji's aesthetic taste became the keystone in research. This chapter discusses four aspects: characterization, structure, phonology and temperament, language.Chapter four is about the three critiques written by Li Zhi, Chen Jiru and Mao shengshan. The paper analyzes much flare thought in the critiques, and summarizes the achievement of the critiques.In the Chapter Conclusion, the dissertation mainly introduces the Pipa Ji's position and influence in the traditional Chinese operas' history and traditional Chinese operas' theoretical history.
