Argument Of The Artistic Features Of Geshwen' Opera-Porgy And Bess

George Gershwin is a prominent figure in the history of American music and his works including hundred pieces of pop songs, dramas, Movie BMG, piano scores and orchestra are integrated with elements from a variety of arts. Such combination gives his music a distinctive American folk characteristic and also sheds some lights on the composition of ethnic music to the Chinese musicians.This dissertation begins with an analysis on Porgy and Bess, one of Gershwin's masterpiece and try to enclose the artistic features and his distinctive dramatic perspective in this work. Meanwhile, the focus of analysis is on the vocal songs in this drama which is very new in dramatic analysis.The whole dissertation is divided into 4 parts. The first part is an introduction to Gershwin's basic dramatic perspective, the second is an analysis on the artistic features of Porgy and Bess, the third concentrates on the songs in Porgy and Bess and the fourth gives an evaluation on the achievement and significance of Porgy and Bess both in America and China.
