The Comparative Study Between Yunjing And The Related Rhyme Dictionaries

Yunjing is one kind of rhyme tables which is based on the rhyme dictionary, mainly is based on the first characters of the syllables in a rhyme dictionary, also is an important material in studying the middle Chinese and even the entire Chinese history. Predecessors have done a lot of research about Yunjing and have solved many very important problems. But when the Yunjing was formed and on which kind of the rhyme dictionary is based continuously still have not reached an agreement to the present academic circles. The essence of the problem lies in, so far also no one has compared Yunjing to the related rhyme dictionaries comprehensively, in detail and systematically, thus it is difficult to obtain the conclusion acceptable to all. This article investigated the relationship between Yunjing and the related rhyme dictionaries, thus obtained the ways and means which are helpful to the solution to the above questions. In chapter one, we compared the rhyme headings and its orders of Yunjing with the related rhyme dictionaries, and determined the possibilities and scope of which rhyme dictionaries are the Yunjing based on from one aspect. In chapter two, we compared the characters of Yunjing with the characters of the related rhyme dictionaries , mainly with the first character of the syllables in the related rhyme dictionaries, and determined the most likely possibility of which rhyme dictionaries are the Yunjing based on from another aspect. Through comprehensive comparison and distinctive visual statistics, we think Yunjing should be based on one kind of rhyme dictionary between Tangyun and Qieyun of Lizhou. This kind of comparison not only had considered the features of the rhyme headings and its orders between Yunjing and the related rhyme dictionaries, but also had more importantly considered the characters included in Yunjing and the related rhyme dictionaries. So this comparison has more scientific.
