Study On Cheng Maoyun

Cheng Maoyun, a musician who made contribution in multi-fields in recent-modern music history of China, is seldom mentioned in the recent-modern history after he died. Until the late of the 1990s, study articles about him gradually appeared. Based on the published papers about Cheng Maoyun, music ideas, music works and music activity of Cheng Maoyun are further studied, combined with historic and cultural background in the 1930s. The musician, who have ever not been mentioned or discussed in the recent-modern history, is re-realized and a relative actual evaluation is made.The thesis is divided into five parts. In the first part, resume of Cheng Maoyun is simply introduced. In the second part, based on tens of music papers of Cheng Maoyun and the music ideas of China at the beginning of 20th century, his typical music ideas are analyzed. In the third part, the collected music works of Cheng Maoyun are concluded and analyzed, focusing on the analysis of his anti-Japanese, national salvation songs. In the four part, the ideas of Cheng Maoyun in music education, including his work and activity in the introduction of music are analyzed and studied. In the five part, the conclusion of all thesis is made.
