As one of the most representative revolutionary intellectuals in new China, Wang Meng is also the most representative writer to depict the images of revolutionary intellectuals. In his novels, the dual identities which the revolutionary intellectual had has created their dual roles and personalities. Too close relations with the history of PRC, as well as the contradictory spirit and pondering way that the identities have have created their complex and contradictory state. So the walk course of the revolutionary intellectuals becomes exceptionally heavy, thus also unceasingly initiats their thinking which to the relations among politics, daily and the human nature, and to that between history and individual.This paper has three parts: preface, body and conclusion.The preface introduces to the formation of the revolutionary intellectuals and limits that.The body has been divided into theree chapters.First chapter combes the history of the images of revolutionary intellectuals in the novel texts.At the end of the 1920s and eraly 1930s, the"New people of Knowledge"in the novels which was writed by the members of"Sun Society",the later"Creating the Society"and Ding Ling were the embryoes of the revolutionary intellectual images. After this, the images became very few in the Liberated Areas and 17 years'novels which were restricted by political standards . In the New Period, the images of revolutionary intellectuals were able to display fully in Wang Meng's novels.Second chapter explains the images of revolutionary intellectuals in Wang Meng's novelsAccording to human's growth logic, the walk course of the revolutionary intellectual has been divided into three periods in Wangeng's novels, we will analyze the characters at each period which is restricted by dual identities.The role spirit of dual identities appear temporary plot in their puberty, but the contradiction can't be reconcilabled that between the lofty ideal of collectivism and the individual growth, this is awkwardness which they have to face in their growh. After growing up, they are casted out of the whirlpool center in a series of political activities. In this process, the contradiction has been became visible between the dual identities of the revolutionaries and intellectuals.They are thinking about the social system, humanity, and the living state in a complex ideology of the sticking or losing. When they return to the system, loneliness in marginalisation is rather than more detention the memory of the past time and think about the relationship between man and history. Meanwhile, in this chapter the author will search and analyze the similarities and differences of the images during 1950s ,1980s and after 1990s in Wang Meng's novels.Third chapter explains the relations between Wang Meng and the images of revolutionary intellectuals, who is influenced by times and society.As a revolutionary intellectual, Wang Meng's special life experiences formed his unique cultural disposition,which is aslo an important reson that he could display fully the sychological course about a generation of revolutionary intellectual and the changes of the nation and society. Meanwhile ,the changes of society, era and the author's pondering way have created the obvious differences and stages of the revolutionary intellectual images.In the conclusion part points out that the images of revolutionary intellectuals in Wang Meng's novels contain the fable'composition, as well as its historical value and contemporary meaning.
