The Effect Of Time And Space And Working Memory Span On Updating Of Situation Model

In two experiments, the effect of the time and spatial information and working span on updating of situation model were tested. The experiments used 2×2×3 mixed design, the reaction time of probe was the index,the short stories were experiment materials, recognition of probe were used in both experiment 1and experiment 2. The results of experiment 1 indicated: time and spatial information affected updating of situation model, the influence of spatial conversion upon updating of situation model was more than that of time information upon updating of situation model. The results of experiment 2 indicated: the implied time information also affected updating of situation model, but spatial conversion had more effect on updating of situation model. The results of both experiment 1 and experiment 2 indicated: working memory span affected situation model processing, the readers with high working memory span were easier to update situation model about the text than the readers with low working memory span did.
