Literature translation would be specially treated among the kinds of translation and children's literature is even more unique. Nowadays the translation studies in western countries not only focus on the study on literature text but also consider about translators and receptors in the whole cultural target language environment. Since the 1970s, traditional theories are broken through by scholars like Even-Zohar and Lefevere.The development of Chinese children's literature has close relationship with the translation of foreign children's literature. Since the May Fourth, many world famous and classical children's literary works have been translated into Chinese. In the translation process of children's literature, translators should pay attention to children's characteristics and aesthetic consciousness. The translation must integrate the whole literature system. The author makes her exploration on modern aesthetic translation theory and polysystem theory. In order to deepen the study of children's literature translation, translator's manipulation and rewriting which base on children's characteristics and dispositions are studied in this paper.We can have a better understanding of the belief and axiology in children's literature through the study of children's literature translation. Thus children's literature will exert its educational and entertaining function in the specific colony-children readers.Of course, there are also many other theories in the domain of children's literature translation. The author thinks that more and more attention will be paid in the translation study of children's literature. Analyzing on modern aesthetic translation theory and polysystem theory, this dissertation intends to lay emphasis on children's aesthetic progression and translators' manipulations, as the first step for the further study on children's literature translation.
