This study explores translation of Children's Literature through a comparative analysis of the two Chinese versions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.Translation study has being attached great importance to in the modern times, especially since the 1990s. When talking about translation, however, one of the important issues — translation of Children's Literature is often ignored for two reasons: firstly, Children's Literature was widely considered to be simple minded in easy language with low literariness. For a long period, it was not considered as important as that of adults', and was marginalized. It was thought to be easy for the translators to translate the meaning of the source text in simple words. Secondly, there were seldom translators who devoted themselves to the career of translation on Children's Literature. Translation of Children's Literature was often mixed with creation of it. Many writers wrote as well as translated it.As a matter of fact, Children's Literature is different from that of adults' in many aspects, such as subject matters, themes and structures of the stories and so on. Translation of Children's Literature is as difficult as that of adults', besides, it has particular features which adult literature does not have. When translating for children, the translators must keep it in mind that the readers of their translation are young children with particular reading capacity and aesthetic capacity.
