This paper makes its study on the translation issue with the focus on the aesthetic progression. The author shows her particular interest in children's literature translation. Literature translation would be specially treated among the kinds of translation and children's literature is even more unique. Since the May Fourth, many world famous and classical children's literary works have been translated into China. However, when translators render children's literary works, they always adopt the angle of adult's cognitive ability and aesthetic consciousness. Children as an independent receptor group that possesses their intrinsic cognitive ability and aesthetic consciousness should draw a special attention of translators. The author makes her exploration on modern aesthetic translation theory and believes that the translation is contains dual aesthetic progressions. The source and target texts are the objects of the aesthetics and the translator and the reader are the subjects of aesthetics. Translator performs the first part of the dual aesthetic progressions, through comprehension, interpretation, to the representation. What this paper emphasis is the second part on the reader's side, namely in this paper is the children's aesthetic progression. Children, young as they are, are capable of experiencing aesthetic progression during reading with their intrinsic aesthetic consciousness. Hence, how to make the rendering in accordance with children's aesthetic progression becomes the key. Analyzing aesthetic objects, aesthetic subjects and aesthetic representation in children's nature, this dissertation intends to lay emphasis on the aesthetic and cognitive features of children, as the first step for the further study on children's literature translation.
