Research Regarding Word Choice In Translation

The first step in translation is choosing the precise words this can also be a very challenginf problem. Based on previous research resultsof other linguistic scholars, an introduction and interpretation is made on the precise meaning of words. Following that an analyses and explenation is given on the precise choice of words in the entire process of translation. Also there is an objective attempt to analyse the very important aspect of semantic characters in translation theory and practice.The thesis investigated and summed up the regulation and mode of differentiation meaning of words in translation. And also analysed the literal and figurative meaning of words in the context.Apart from the conclusion, the thesis consosts of four chapters.The first chapter systematically introduced the definitions and standpoints of words and meaning of words given by both national and international scholars. Also put forward my personal understanding of the definitions of the meaning of words. In chapter two, contrasts are made between the literal meaning of words from the Chinese an Uyghur language. Looking from different angles the relationships between completely equivalence, partially equivalence and non- equivalence and explain the corrosponding meaning of words, giving and analysing concerete examples to contrast the meaning of words. In chapter three, an attempt is made from the semantic points of view to determine the relationship between the meaning of words, context and translation. Conclusions are made on functions of context in differentiation and limitation of choice of words, and explain the important role of context in choice of words in translation. In chapter four, based on the translation theory and practice, we take a closer look at meaning of words, discuus and analyse the broad and narraw meaning of words, their commendatory and derogatory meanings, writing styles and literary flavours of genre, imegary and symbolsm of words, combination of words, how to attend to different tenses, plural and singular forms of nouns, and word unique to the culture. And eloberating on the value of practical theory of differentiating and determining the meaning of words in the translation process.In whatever form the translation may be, it will progress and be completed by differentiation and right choice of words.
