With the building of Sino-East Union free trade zone, it is worthconsidering how to make full of geographical advantages of Guangxiborder area so as to develop trade with East Union and thus to"enrich people and prosper frontier ". And it has great significance totaking right attitude towards relation between Sino-French War andborder-trade development. In the past, many scholars tended toemphasize evolution and semi-colony of the trade, and aggressivenature of the war. But in fact, the war impelled the transition fromfeudal, spontaneous, backward trade patter to initiative, capitalistword market. And after the war, various tradingtreaties impelled the transition.Part two, Guangxi and Vietnam border was in the forefront ofinternational economic communicating in modern Guangxi. Theinfluence of the war on the trade lied in: changing of trading natureand importing goods' frame, increasing of goods exporting andincreasing of import and export turnover. Although the warwas aggressive in nature, it had positive influence on modernGuangxi border.Part three, development of border trade between modernGuangxi and Vietnam. The trade had been going better than thatbetween Yunnan and Vietnam before the war, whereas after the war,it became backward. The coming of Yunnan-Vietnam Railway madethe latter developed rapidly and drove its industry development, while Guangxi relied on no modern traffic technology but thetraditional waterway, which leaded to slow development of trade. Inthe final analysis, France was the leading force in developing ofborder trade between modern China and Vietnam, and the warinfluenced Yunnan deeper than Guangxi.Part four, conclusion. The paper points out again thatSino-French War was a must for French colonists to constructing theeconomic circle, but the war promoted the trade objectivaly.
