| In 1917, when Marcel Duchamp put the letter "Mutt" On the ready- made urinal and exhibited it in the American Armory, the Installation Art appeared. In 1985, the great Pop Art master Robert Rauschenberg introduce the Installation Art to china, and after the Chinese artist realizing the charm of the multi-media and ready-made, installation art germinated in china. After 10 years' exploration & practice, the Installation became mature in China, in 1990's. It was aiso the period of time that female art got its rapid development. As the reform & opening up makes further progress & the information of western female art keeps flowing in, some young female artists, over passing those man's experience & speech, have begun to try various explorations, in expressing their own experience, inside feeling & self-consciousness. Installation, as a new method of art, is attracting those female artists, as its materials can thoroughly waken people's sense & feeling, fully expresses the ideas of author's. Although influenced by the feminism, the female installation art in 90s in china embodied an oriental feminine particularity --- without drastic resisting and compromise, but with gritty character ---that was so different from the furious and subversive art in western country.
