Culture Critique And Cultural Restructuring

In this article I mainly talk about Chen Duxiu's culture critique and culturalrestructuring during the New Culture Movement earlier period. After fullintrospection of traditional culture and profound comparison the Chinese culturewith the West culture, Chen Duxiu realized that they must carry on modernreforming the ethics cultural pattern which takes the Confucianist thought as thecore. In order to achieve this goal, Chen Duxiu took the Western culture as themodel, carried on thorough setting at variance and subversion to the Chinatraditional culture. In this foundation, he attempted to construct the new politicalculture, ethics culture, the language culture, the knowledge culture, then tried hardto raise the new youth who had the ideas of independence and the positiveenterprising consciousness, the modern scientific knowledge and the democraticpolitical consciousness, and realized the human and society's dual developmentthrough cultural reforming. But because of the time limitation and without thescience theory instruction, Chen Duxiu's culture advocacy and new youth's tentativeplan has not obtained the true realization. This question wasn't solved until then histhought changed to the Marxism.Until now, this point in the modern cultural history, how to deal with theopposition of China and the West culture, how to impel cultural reforming, how toreconstruct China's philosophy of life, is still puzzling the academic circles.Therefore, reconsidering the Chen Duxiu culture critique and the culturalrestructuring is good for not only the academic but also the society.
