With a large scale of Chinese moving to the South in Qing Dynasty, numbers ofChinese arts are introduced into the Southeast Asia, especially in the Philippines,Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Those four countries have Chinese people in largerquantites and more deeply affected at that time. Therefore, the spreading and developmentof Chinese arts are particularly conspicuous in those countries. Furthermore, as theimperialist powers' aggression and the Qing government's corruption in the middle of the19th century, the number of Chinese immigrants to four countries continues to climb.Large influx of Chinese promotes Chinese arts to spread more widely and more deeplythroughout the four countries in Southeast Asia. Gradually, the Chinese art integrates withlocal arts during the passing of time, which pushes forward not only the development oflocal arts, but also adds local characterics and features to the Chinese art in the fourcountries. In the light of the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia for thegeographical area and 1644-1949 for a time span, the paper suggests to sort out andanalyze the spreading and development of Chinese art in those four countries, and toelaborate its great significance to local arts and Chinese arts.
