Luoyang is a important literary image in Eastern Han Dynasty. With the development of Eastern Han literature, Luoyang, as a literary image, has successively been suffered in the course from opposition (LunDu Fu), approval (LiangDu Fu) to be against (ErJing Fu and Nineteen Ancient Poems).The change of Luoyang image was orientated from the transformation of relations between the intellectual and the political power (namely shi).Being represented the western aristocrat's benefit, Du Du thought Chang An is the best location of capital city. Ban Gu, as an intellectual, was favored by the emperor, therefore, he was strongly for the decision of Luoyang as the capital city, in his eyes, Luoyang symbolized the benevolence. Zhang Heng, a moral intellectual, has criticized Luoyang as a getting ostentatious city. Although this kind of spirit to criticize has not been inherited by the follows, the ostentatious image left has often embodied in their complaint, which tries to convey their felling losing the political power.It is the conclusion of this paper that the change of Luoyang image was orientated from the transformation of relations between the intellectual and the political power.
