Comment On Dai Zhen's Study Of The Reason

Dai Zhen is the representative's of the school of Anhui of the Confucianism inthe Qian-Jia times. In his academic fulfillment, he looked for the reason fromweighing the word sense, emphasized "knowing the truth" from the aspect of theviewpoint of the reason, and regarded "the ambition in knowing the truth" as thepurpose of words, rhymes, weighing word meaning, researching text. Throughexplaining some important words and phrases, concepts of "Mencius", actually he putforward his special viewpoint of nature, viewpoint of knowledge and ethics and builtup an integrated philosophy system which was absolutely opposite to theNew-Confucianism. And the spirit pierce through Dai Zhen's philosophy is "Seekingtruth from facts".At the same time, covered with "reviving old customs", Dai Zhen criticizedNew-Confucianism, who restored his opposition to New-Confucianism to Confuciusand Mencius' opposition to the New-Confucianism. And the New-Confucianism wasthe authority at that time. Therefore, criticizing the Confucianism has the spirits ofanti-tradition and anti-authority.Nowadays studying Daizhen's philosophy is an important link which completelyholds and accurately comprehends the thoughts and culture of the whole Qing dynasty,even the Chinese culture. And this thesis tries to put forward some new thoughts fromthe two aspects.
