From the angle of intercultural study and reception theory, the article uses the concept of "reaction", which is derived from the subject of auto-control, and studies the popularity of kundera's novels in China, in order to discuss the relationship between Kundera and Chinese intelligentsia. Intercultural study is the pivot of comparative study, aiming at commonness out of difference among cultures. Reception theory is an important approach aiming at extending the scope and improving the scientific quality of comparative literature study. As a result, the article is divided into two parts: one for the definition of "reaction", the other for the process of Kundera's reaction in China. From the angle of intercultural study, Kundera's works has much common with Chinese culture, possessing much research value. From the angle of reception theory, behind the popularity of Kundera, there are many things worth studying.Compared with other foreign writers' influences in China, Kundera's influenc(?) is more special. On the one hand, Kundera's works received more kinds of understanding, on the other hand, Kundera's works have various influences in differences in different periods. As a result, the study of Kundera is more valuable.Since Kundera came into the sight of Chinese readers twenty years ago, he received various kinds of interpretation, which can be divided into three kinds: political interpretation, psychological interpretation and aesthetical interpretation. These interpretation appeared one after another in general, making great breakthroughs in the study of Kundera's works. However, for a long time, these three aspects kept separated from each other. As a result of that, the article studies Kundera within as well as studies the historical and cultural background, in order to understand Kundera's works more objectively.The article develops in time's sequence, and studies Kundera's popularity in different periods from the angle of reception theory. In order to give a more clear picture of Kundera's works in China, the article makes use of the concept of "reaction", which is derived from the subject of auto-control. After giving a definition of "reaction", the article suggests that "reaction" should made good use of be a good use of in the study of comparative literature.The article focuses on the macroscopic way in studying Kundera's popularity in China, highlights some new factors such as films, commercial benefits and so on, and proposed a new approach in the study of comparative literature.
