This article attempts to examine the phonological and lexical performance of children four to six years old in the language games by the experimental way,and conclude the relation between language games and children's language ability.The paper is composed of five parts.The first part introduces the general survey of study of children's language ability and language games, the theoretical function,the objects,the ways and the significance of this research.The second and third part separately describe and analize the experimental datas and results of the games of tongue twister and words building up a sequence,mainly including:the comparative analysis on phonological results;the analysis of error types of initial consonant,final and intonation;influence factors of physiology,language and cognition;thelexical performance of vocabulary,word classes'proportion,high-frequency words and easily-associative words;the analysis of characteristics of syllable,grammar structure and sementic relation;influence factors of language cognition and environment.The forth part synthetically discusses the relations between language games, children's language ability and language education from three angls of language games, cognition and children's language education.The fifth part concludes the major findings, points out the deficiencies in the paper and discusses the future direction of this field.The article concludes that through language games ,we can exmine the affection of age,frequency and difficulty to phonological results and children's mastery of words. Language games can improve children's language ability and cognitive level. This research will help to roundly recognize the language development principle of children,meanwhile give some strategies for the practice of language education of children.
