Traditional Culture Interpret Modern Life

AS a kind of visual transmission language, graphic design is acting more and more vital role and profound influence in our society. But we must clarify the question that why and how the Graphic design must take root in our nationality's cultural. This is a hot issue in graphic designs these years. On the present situation of designs practice, we have questions on the traditional culture in understanding and grasping: 1.The understanding and grasping in traditional culture is inadequate, we use it every day, but we do not recognize it. 2. there have a barrier between traditional culture and modern life. 3. The abuse of traditional elements. So in the graphic designs, the reflection of Chinese culture is showing the imitating and copying cultural representation in shallow level. Want to do more in mastering traditional culture, we must know more about the features of Chinese culture, know more about the aesthetic ideal of Chinese culture and do combine the connotation of Chinese culture and the theory of graphic design. But this is a so huge project that if we analyze the features of Chinese culture systematically and comprehensively. So we just analyze the next five spirit points to understand our culture: treatment natural manner, ethics relations, self-cognition, the life and death view and esthetic ideal. Through this, we know that the"dao"and"ren"is the highest esthetic ideal of Chinese culture and the"ziran""yijing""shenyun"is the highest ideal of esthetic. As the same time, we try to understand the modern graphic design theory and get a conclusion. It is : graphic design is a way to communicate ; graphic design is a kind of visual science-also a king of visual art. We want to find the converging point between Chinese culture and graphic design, in order to find a best expression of Chinese culture. Then we can feel and realize the Chinese culture charm,. further, we can combine Chinese esthetic ideal whit graphic design, and form a new design style which has Chinese characteristic.
