Modern Summer Olympics Graphic Design

A dramatically increasing of concerns has been turned to the Olympic Games after the Beijing Olympic Games. Actually, studies on the Olympic Games graphic design have been started before 2008. However, most of the previous researches were only focused on the individual subject of graphic design without discussing the intersection of relevant fields, which were biased unavoidably. Accordingly, researches at that period were dominated by the anticipation of the Beijing Olympic Games design. Nowadays, the visual design of Beijing Olympic Games has been known all over the world, on which praising as well as critical comments were made. How to comprehend the visual design of Beijing Olympic Games objectively? It is of great importance for understanding the situation of domestic graphic design. The roles that the graphic design played in the large scale sports games such as Olympic Games were investigated. Various visual graphic are designed based on the factors of politics, economy and culture, which must be studied in order to obtain an objective knowledge of the graphic design in Olympic Games. Therefore, materials of the graphic design in Olympic Games were collected and analyzed in this paper. Discussion was carried out on the information transmission, culture communication and the stimulating of economic growth. Personal viewpoints on the teaching reform of Olympic Games'graphic design were presented at the end of this paper.
