On The Study Of Lu Opera Troupe Of Ang Family In Wuwei Of Anhui Province

Music, as one type of human culture, possesses many different kinds of styles. Chinese opera, as a comprehensive art, which mainly features melody and some aspects of other Chinese arts, has become one important style. The practitioners of this art are usually organized into a group, which is often called"theatrical troupe". In the long history of Chinese opera, the theatrical troupe has been reflecting the development of Chinese opera, its practitioners'activities and relevant facts as well. Therefore, it must be an overall study to stick to a certain local opera in the perspective of theatrical troupe. To make an objective and rational study, on-the-spot investigation is a rather proper method. This thesis is a case study on Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family in Wuwei of Anhui Province in this way. It searches Lu Opera—one of the local operas in Anhui Province on the spot, paying more attention to the"East Way"School in terms of its history, current situation and future development, trying to reflect the promotion and restriction of local opera troupe to the existence and development of local opera.This thesis falls into five parts. The first part involves the history of"theatrical troupe"and the circumstances of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family, making a simple study on the history of"theatrical troupe"as well as the environmental elements of the existence and development of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family. The second part concerns the composition and life of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family, focusing on its organization, performers'personalities and their families and life, especially exploring the internal elements such as the performers'aesthetic appreciations, interests and mentalities. Part three pays attention to the types of Lu Opera and the practice of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family. The historical development of the types of Lu Opera expresses a vast cultural connotation, which helps Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family form the special structure of vocal music, singing styles, accompaniment and dialects. Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family mainly has two kinds of performances. One is called"Taikoxi", putting up a stage and performing on it, which both follows the tradition and has new creation in time and space. The other is"Pengxi", recorded on the VCD and DVD in a studio. By using modern media to widen the way of transmission, it has developed in a large scale and enjoyed a great popularity since the 1995s. The fourth part discusses the motivation and models of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family. As a folk local opera performance group, Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family is different both from theatrical troupe of old times and that of the planned-economy time. In what way does it exit and develop? And how about its motivation? This paper studies the motivation from three perspectives: base (the traditional function of local opera), supporting point (the audience's mental need) and direction (the gradually mature market). Then the author summarizes the models of current local opera societies by expressing the social environment, composition, life, performance and motivation of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family, then deriving their future development. The fifth part focuses on the features of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family and the explanation to the features. The existence and development of Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family are the historical phenomenon in the development of local operas, which demonstrate various characteristics by comparatively studying its history and reality, tradition and modernity, present days and future, etc., expressing the reasonability, sustainability and limitations of the existence and development of nowaday theatrical troupes. As far as Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family is concerned, this thesis concludes that: Firstly, it experiences from popularity to refinement, then appealing to all. Secondly, it shows the continuance of the traditional notions of theatrical troupe in terms of education, custom and recreation. Thirdly, it embodies the time features in social innovation, transformation and market. Fourthly, it is restrained by its weak points and defects.In the end of this paper, some personal experience and impression while investigating Lu Opera Troupe of Ang Family are discussed.
