Domestic film has displayed new vitality, vigorousness and a prosperous picture, after premiere of HERO directed by Zhang Yimou. In 2003, the sale's records of domestic films had surpassed the foreign films for the first time, opened a whole new era. Over the years, the production and box office have been on the rise. In addition, China's National Film Bureau has published a blue covered brochure, in which the box office is important. It's well known that box office is based on the consumer interest in the films. It is two-way choice between film and consumer. So we can conclude that box office is related to the consumer culture.Now, consumer culture is a vogue topic. Film is the consumed object and consumer is the consuming subject, which are two essential factors to study the domestic film with the good box office. Such media as propaganda and star's influence are the bridge the gap between film and consumer. So that the author focuses on film text, media, consumer and their relations, trying to study their interaction on the box office.The author pays attention to domestic film with good box office in consumer culture, initiates from what is consumer culture; the domestic film with good box office in consumer culture; and the domestic film with good box office by consumer culture. First the author summarizes the works about consumer culture, differentiates and explains the words close to consumer culture. Then the author introduces the domestic film from 2003 to 2005, and analyzes the film consumption and arts consumption. Third, the author illustrates the domestic film within the boundary of consumer culture, and comment the film text, media and consumer. Because three elements are close contact, the author analyzes the relations between film and consumer, media's forces on them.
