Gusu engraving of Taohuawu woodcutting New Years prints is the works with western style in the period of Emperor Qianlong of Qing dynasty. It is the special example in the all Taohuawu woodcutting New Years prints. In the works of Gusu engraving, we could find the effect of western drawing style, which appears from perspective focus and the utilizations of the lightness and darkness with conscious.In the period of Emperor Qianlong of Qing dynasty, Gusu engraving of New Years prints came out, developed and were prosperous. At that time, the social environment of holding in esteem to western drawing style is the basement of appearance of Gusu engraving. At the same time, it is the good chance to form its style that the literati and artists took part in the making of Gusu engraving of New Years prints. While the industrial of silk fabrics of Suzhou was developed in Qing dynasty. It brought quantities of abroad trade, which has much relation to the production of the works of Gusu engraving. By analyzing the themes, size, techniques, and the preserving of Gusu engraving, comparing with drawing of Fushihui of Jianghu period in Japan, we could find the difference with the people who like it for the reason of the area is different. Deeply thinking about the relations of economy and literature exchanging between China and Japan in the period of Emperor Qianlong, we can make a conclusion that the speciousness of Gusu engraving of Taohuawu woodcutting New Years prints is because it was used to sale to Japanese at that time.
