It is an important study of the relation between the imperial examinations and literature. Many scholars have got great achievements in this field. However, this study on Ming and Qing dynasty drops further behind that on Tang and Song. Based on the earning productions in existence, this text collects a lot of literacy works and historical data, in order to reappear the survival circumstance of poetry in Qing dynasty under the shadow of imperial examinations. This discussion contains three aspects. The matriculates by stereotyped writings were the marked feature of Qing dynasty imperial examinations system. The imperial examinations restricted the reading scope of examinees and affected the style of poetry in forepart of Qing dynasty. The techniques of Eight-part Essay were applied in poem learning because of the structural common. Examination poems were operated in all kinds of examinations in Qing dynasty. This discussion states that the imperial examinations have partial but not primary negative impacts on the poetry in forepart of Qing dynasty.
